JT acquires leading Egyptian water pipe tobacco firm

logoJapan Tobacco Inc stated in the March 4, 2013 press release that  the JT Group has  ”completed an acquisition of the leading water-pipe tobacco (Shisha) company”  Al Nakhla Tobacco Company S.A.E. and Al Nakhla Tobacco Company – Free,  collectively known as Nakhla.  The acquisition was originally announced in a November 16, 2012 press release,  “Furthermore, the acquisition enhances JTI’s geographical footprint in the Middle East and Africa, and over the long-term, provides a platform for JTI to participate in the sizeable cigarette market in Egypt.”  According tot he Nakhla website, The Al Nakhla Tobacco Company has distributors on ever continent except Antarctica, with  total sales volume in 2011 at approximately 24,000 tons.

Mild Seven Changes to MEVIUS

According to a JTI Press release ”Mild Seven, one of JT Groups’s Global Flagship Brands will have a new brand name, Mevius, and a globally unified design…Mevius is aiming to become the number on global premium brand.

Mild seven…has been the best-selling brand in Japan since 1978, a year after it was launched. The Company plans to roll out the new name and design across Japan, introducing the globally unified design in November 2012, while retaining the Mild Seven name  followed by the launch of Mevius brand name in February 2013.  Mild Seven has consumer popularity in Taiwan, Korea, Malaysia and Russia.”

General Snus hits America with MAXIM Magazine Pool Party tour

General SNUS,  a genuine Swedish snus  is now on the US Market.  Snus is a pasteurized spitless tobacco.  General Snus is made by Swedish Match North Europe AB; the company has created an official Website and facebook page.  General Snus has teamed up with MAXIM magazine to do a cross country promotion called MAXIM Magazine Pool Party.   You can gain access to the General’s Club VIP area when you log on to General snus’s website and RSVP for the event.  So far the tour has included Dever, CO on  8-25-2012, PLAY club in  Cincinnati, OH, on 8-21-2012, Chicago, IL, on August 18th 2012 at the deuces and Diamond Club, Nashville, TN, on 8-8-2012, Minneapolis, MN, on 7-28-2012, Philidelphia, PA, on 7- 24,-2012,  New York NY, on July 23, 2012Dallas, TX, at revive Uptown on 6-30-2012,
